The Ancient Magus' Bride: Chise & Elias Artist Interivew

We sat down to talk with the amazing artists behind our latest release, The Ancient Magus’ Bride: Chise & Elias Elite Figumiz statue. Find out everything about how we created this beautiful statue and the challenges that come with the first romantic style piece we’ve ever done. 

Who are you and what was your role on this statue? 
“My name is Ezequiel Politano, 3D Lead of Figurama Collectors and I am responsible for sculpting the project AMB” - Ezequiel Politano 

“Daniel here and I am the concept artist and designer of the statue” - Daniel Kamarudin 

How did it feel to create a statue for such a renowned series like The Ancient Magus' Bride? 

“I felt quite comfortable since the concept that Daniel made is solid and incredible.” - Ezequiel Politano 

“Pretty different and refreshing from the previous projects. Trying to capture the beauty and whimsy of the series and having the characters interact more intimately was definitely a highlight.” - Daniel Kamarudin 

What challenges did you face when concepting and designing this statue? 

“It was quite a challenge for me since it is the first time I make a figure where we interpret a romantic/magical moment and not a fight.” - Ezequiel Politano  

“I wanted to go for something more 'floaty' that showed off the series' whimsy and magic, and contain as much content as I could fit in the composition without looking cluttered. If this was a one and done piece for AMG fans, then I think they'd be happy with it.” - Daniel Kamarudin 

What did you want our wonderful collectors to feel when seeing the AMB statue? 

“The pact between Elias and Chise, the union of it by looking at each other.” - Ezequiel Politano 

“I would like them to see the statue as sort of a summary of the series. To get the vibe at a glance” - Daniel Kamarudin 

What made this statue design unique? 

“100% composition from the angle you see it you find everything that makes this great series!” - Ezequiel Politano 

“Unlike many of the other Figurama Collectors pieces, this focuses on the harmony between characters. An intimate scene like this is packed with references from the series is harder to pull off compared to a fight scene” - Daniel Kamarudin 

How long did you work on this piece for? 

“It was 2 months of full sculpting, at least that long it took me, then the time involved in approving this for the license would have taken another month.” - Ezequiel Politano 

“I can't remember (It's been delayed for years I really can't answer this one correctly)” - Daniel Kamarudin 

What’s your favourite part of the statue? 

“Without a doubt Ruth (the dog) I can't help it but I am a dog lover, and having to take references from my pets (india and luna) was my favorite part of the whole sculpting😊” - Ezequiel Politano 

“Definitely the posing of the two characters together, surrounded by all the little references to the series that I hope fans will pick up on. I'm a big fan of interaction like this in statues and I'm glad to have had the opportunity to design something like this.” - Daniel Kamarudin 

What’s your favourite moment from the AMB series? 

“When Chise discovers magic for the first time and Elias has to stop her and reveals that Chise is a Sleigh Beggy” - Ezequiel Politano 

“Whenever Elias gets animated as a chibi. Good vibes” - Daniel Kamarudin 

What made this design different to anything else on the market? 

“I want to name it once again one of the best artists Daniel Kamarudin who made the concept totally different from what we have been doing, giving the statue a focus on magic and Elias' love for Chise. I think that's why you won't find another statue on the market.” - Ezequiel Politano 

“I believe this is the first dynamic AMB figure on the market with this much content packed in at this scale, so that would definitely differentiate it from the rest out there” - Daniel Kamarudin
