2023 Winter Retrospective For An Even Brighter 2024!

It’s coming to the end of the year, so at Figurama we’re starting to look ahead to the next year and think about what beautiful anime statues we’re going to bring to life in the way that only Figurama can. With that, involves us looking back into our past to make sure we’re keeping up the high-quality design and wow factor that we’re known for. 

It’s a cathartic experience, reliving some of the incredible moments that we’ve been part of, as well as some of the challenges. So today, we wanted to share with you, some of our favourite releases from the past few years that are helping us push forward to bigger, greater and more inspiring releases in the future. 

Blame! 

The unique challenge with Killy is that, being a cyborg, he doesn’t express much emotion compared to other characters and his movements are always purposeful. Yet our artist Franco Carlesimo still managed to create a highly unique and dynamic design that holds incredible detail. 

It’s that very detail that we love about the Blame! Statue. The more you look at him, the more you uncover in the small details that bring Killy to life. While he doesn’t have the most dynamic pose, the background delivers absolute character with embedded LEDs to show melted metal from a tunnel he just blasted away with his Gravitational Beam Emitter.

Blame! waitlist 

Escanor vs. Estarossa 

A truly epic mental and physical battle comes to life in our Escanor vs. Estarossa statue in glorious detail that the Lion of Pride would be... well... proud of. 

This is why we adore this statue. It has a dynamic and imposing form that gives a sense of imposing weight to Escanor and dynamic action from Estarossa. It embodies both of their characters so well. And can we take a moment to appreciate the blazing heat you feel coming from Cruel Sun! I know it’s winter right now, but I’m getting a little warm looking back at this and all of the melted armour around them. 

One special note that often goes unnoticed, and is something we actually pride ourselves on is the detail in the base. Often bases are overlooked pieces that just hold a statue up, but not in Figurama. We put as much detail and consideration into that as the whole piece, and this is no exception.

Escanor vs. Estarossa Waitlist 

Rurouni Kenshin 

We’re now taking a throwback to a series that had it’s 25th Anniversary, and holds a special place in our hearts as an incredible series. So we wanted to make a very special statue that represents everything Rurouni Kenshin is about and bring a big moment to life. 

We love this statue because there is so much on offer visually. From the dynamic poses to the extreme details on the characters, I mean, look at those bandages! And of course, you can’t forget the Figurama touch of adding in multiple easter eggs to find from every angle. We don’t just design to be viewed from the front, every angle needs to have it’s own charm, and our Rurouni Kenshin statue does that. 

It was also the first Rurouni Kenshin statue ever produced. Which makes it even more special.

Rurouni Kenshin Waitlist 

Ban vs. King 

Okay okay, another Seven Deadly Sins statue, but bear with me on this one. This is not only one of the most fun fights in the anime and something that needed to happen for character progression, but also very hard to translate to a statue. 

You see, this is not only a spectacular art piece with tonnes of hidden and visible detail from every angle, but also an engineering marvel. 

Why? Because King is flying. We had to find a way to give King the view of flying without having any ugly supports to make that happen. Our designers worked tirelessly to make this happen and the end result is magnificent statue that really makes it look like King is flying around the scene.

Vampire Hunter D 

Vampire Hunter D is one of our favourites, and each statue is even signed by Yoshitaka Amano himself! While that does make is an incredibly unique statue in it’s own right, there is a lot more to this statue as well. 

The overall ambiance brings a level of darkness and grime that is hard to find in any other statue. It truly embodies the feeling or vibe you get from the anime. Even when lit brightly, this statue casts a shadow around it. 

That’s something we strive to achieve with every statue and this one in particular embodies that to perfection. It’s probably because it took 5 years to produce!
