“Being able to recreate the iconic art of Lucy, with a scene that wasn't pulled directly from the anime is amazing”
Welcome Figuramians to another installment of our artist interviews! Today we have a very special interview with the concept artist for our Elfen Lied: Lucy Elite Solo statue. Without any further ado, read the interview below.
How did it feel to create a statue for such a renowned series?
Interesting to design something not in the mainstream with a cult following.
What challenges did you face when concepting and designing this statue?
Making sure the thing could balance properly with that sort of design.
What did you want our wonderful collectors to feel when seeing the statue?
To appreciate how we recreated the iconic Lucy art in 3D
What made this statue design unique?
It's a fairly uncommon silhouette among anime based figures. top heavy with a fairly thin base.
How long did you work on this piece for?
Design took about a month with licensor feedback and approval.
What’s your favorite part of the statue?
We were allowed to recreate the iconic art of Lucy, set dressed with a scene that wasn't pulled directly from the anime. it's rare a licensor is this lenient and let us do something a bit more abstract.
What’s your favorite moment from the series?
The first bits of episode 1 that went for full shock value.
What made this design different to anything else on the market?
I believe it's the biggest licensed Elfen Lied collectable in the market in terms of both scale and content.
